START-UP CONTEST RULES
1. OBJECTIVE
The purpose of these awards is to promote, recognize and disseminate the best projects and initiatives of newly created companies that have excelled in any field related to the olive industry. From cultivation, through processing, to packaging or marketing, the aim is to reward new business ideas that seek to transform the Olive Value Chain, contributing to an improvement for the product, the producer, its professionals and their work systems, the consumer, and the environment.
The organization and management of the contest are carried out by Alfa Laval Iberia, S.A. (C/ Francisco Gervás, 4 2ª planta, 28108, Alcobendas, Madrid), through the Folive 2022 event.
Folive 2022 will appoint the persons responsible for the technical secretariat of the Awards in the coming dates and its members, whose professional background will be linked to the technical and research, political and commercial fields, will coordinate the reception and evaluation of the different candidacies according to the technical requirements included in these rules.
2. START-UP REQUIREMENTS
• Be legally incorporated or in the process of incorporation in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece or France with a maximum age of 8 years from the registration of the activity.
• It must be considered an SME in accordance with EU legislation.
• Have an innovative component, not necessarily technological.
3. CONTEST REQUIREMENTS
a. DEADLINE
The period for receipt of nominations will be open from December 5, 2021, to February 25, 2022, inclusive, and must be submitted by the established deadline using the web form with the required attachments as mandatory. b. DOCUMENTATION
To participate in this call for proposals, the following documentation must be submitted in Spanish, Portuguese, or English.

PDF document of 3 pages maximum where the following points will be indicated:
o Fiscal data of the company
o Logo
o Management team and corporate structure
o Brief description of the company and its activity.
o Economic indicators and projection
o Value proposition and objectives of the project
o Problems to be solved or needs to be met
o The degree of novelty of the project and the results obtained.
o The socioeconomic, environmental or any other impact on the olive market.
o Other relevant points to highlight (employability, corporate commitment, collaborations, intellectual property, etc.).
o External link to video presentation (optional)
Companies submitting videos warrant that they are the owners or assignees of the rights thereto, that they are original and unpublished works and that they do not infringe the rights of third parties, whatever their nature.
4. SELECTION CRITERIA
The jury will mainly assess the strength of the value proposition, the innovative component of the company and its potential transformative effect, the scalability of the business model, the milestones achieved, the social and economic impact of the company’s activity in the olive industry, its environmental involvement and the quality of the documentation submitted.
5. AWARDS
From February 25, 2022, the evaluation of the projects will begin, where the jury will make a pre-selection of 2 finalist projects, based on the documentation provided. During the evaluation process, the jury may request additional documentation from the candidates if deemed necessary for a better understanding and comprehension of the project presented.
In the event of a tie in the evaluations, preference will always be given to a company that has not been awarded an Award before. Folive will communicate the verdict to the holders of the selected applications. These finalists will be announced through the media that Folive deems appropriate, as well as through the website.
The Awards will have a quadruple perspective: economic, dissemination, visibility and launching effect. The aim is to accelerate and facilitate the initiative presented with the collaboration and guidance of the participating companies.
The scope of the awards will be:
- Economic. 2.500€ for the 1st classified. 1,500 for the runner-up.
- Dissemination. Publications of their project/product/solution for both winners in collaborating specialised media and on social media.
- Visibility and promotion. Participation of both prize-winners with a live presentation at Folive2022 and advice for this.
- Consultancy. Both awardees will participate in the first phase of the selection process for Endeavor’s acceleration program.
6. DATA PROTECTION
The personal data provided by the participants or to which Alfa Laval, S.A. has access in the framework of this call, are governed under the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union (GDPR) and the Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and guarantee of digital rights. The data provided will be processed by Alfa Laval, S.A. for the purpose of managing the documentation received for the evaluation of projects that will participate in the competition. The processing is strictly necessary for this purpose. The data will be kept as long as necessary to comply with the legal obligations related to the holding of the contest. However, the data will remain duly blocked until the statute of limitations period for any possible legal action that may be taken has elapsed. The data will be processed only by Alfa Laval, S.A. and, to the extent necessary to comply with the purpose of the processing or with a legal obligation, by those third parties to whom it is obliged to communicate them. In any case, participants may exercise their rights of access, rectification, cancellation, portability, forgetfulness, and limitation, as well as their right to object to the processing, under the terms provided at any time, by mail to the address indicated in these terms and conditions, providing a photocopy of their ID card or equivalent document, and identifying themselves as a participant in these Awards. They may also file a complaint with the competent data protection authority. Alfa Laval, S.A. reserves the right to verify the information submitted and to eliminate those candidacies that do not meet the characteristics required to participate in the contest. The contest organizers guarantee total confidentiality regarding the practices, projects and business policies submitted. The information collected throughout the process is considered the exclusive property of the authors and will be treated with confidentiality. The documentation may be used exclusively for the purpose of dissemination and notoriety in the different Folive channels.
If the projects submitted do not meet the criteria of rigor and quality required for the awarding of the awards, the jury may declare any of the award’s void.
7. GUARANTEES
Participation in the Awards implies full acceptance of its rules. The winners expressly authorize the reproduction, distribution and communication to the public of the projects submitted, as well as their title and contents, signed by their authors, in any digital or printed media, within the scope of publicity, guarantee of transparency and information about the Awards. The participant guarantees that he/she is the material author of the projects submitted to the Awards, that they are original and that he/she has not plagiarized or usurped them from third parties, and therefore guarantees that he/she holds all the intellectual and industrial property rights that he/she assigns to Alfa Laval S.A. and shall be exclusively liable for any claim that may arise from third parties for this reason, indemnifying and holding

Alfa Laval, S.A. shall be indemnified and held harmless at all times.If the person submitting the projects competing for any of the Awards is a person other than the author, he/she guarantees that he/she has the necessary authorization to do so and that the material author/s of the projects submitted comply with all the provisions set forth in this paragraph. If any of the winners of the Awards turns out to be a plagiarism of another or infringes the rights of third parties and this is irrefutably demonstrated, the winner in question shall be obliged to return the Award awarded, without prejudice to the right of Alfa Laval, S.A. to take any legal action it may be entitled to and to claim any damages suffered. Alfa Laval S.A. reserves the right to shorten, extend, modify, or cancel this contest if it deems it convenient or if special circumstances occur that prevent the contest from being held, or if there are exceptional circumstances that prevent it from being held, without any obligation to compensate third parties.
Likewise, Alfa Laval, S.A. reserves the right to remove photos or comments that do not comply with its corporate philosophy or that are considered offensive to other Internet users.
Alfa Laval, S.A. shall not be held responsible for statements made through social networks or by third parties and may take any legal action it deems appropriate against them.
Alfa Laval, S.A. undertakes to maintain the confidentiality of those projects that do not win an Award. Likewise, it may freely inform about its participants, being able to quote the authors of such projects.
These general conditions shall be interpreted in accordance with Spanish law. For all matters relating to the interpretation, compliance and execution of these conditions, Alfa Laval Iberia, S.A., and the participants, expressly waiving any other jurisdiction or privilege that may correspond to them, formally submit to the jurisdiction and competence of the Courts and Tribunals of Madrid.
The Awards are subject to the tax legislation in force. Participants in this contest undertake to comply with the tax obligations that may arise from their participation in the contest.
